We got married up in this neck of the woods so it is pretty special to us.

The drive from SF is easy (just over 2 hours) and there are fantastic stops along the way.

Hopland is a must stop town for us: The Golden Pig has great food (the chicken Bahn Mi rocks my world) and atmosphere. There is a honey tasting cart set up on the side of the road most weekends. The antique shop is killer and the wine tasting is fabulous.

In Ukiah itself, we always stop at Schats for a pie, bread, delish salad or sandwich. When we’re coming up to stay (Check out Vichy Springs for a unique hot springs experience), there is an awesome Natural Foods Co-op and a Costco for grocery shopping.

On our drive up, there are milestones that take you down one more notch from #citystress with each one you pass.

Frog Woman Rock takes my breath away every time we pass. The windy roads between Sonoma County and Mendocino County help set the tone for taking it easy.

My first drive out to the house in Potter Valley reminded me why I love this area so much. Getting off highway 20 (just 15 minutes off 101), you start up windy oak studded hills, enormous rocks that make you remember just how small we are, and see nature everywhere.

Each trip has graced me with a different animal on the road leading to the house: a coyote, a snake, wild turkeys, deer that just hang and look at you, and lots and lots of lizards.

The house itself is magical in its own right. A sweet rustic cabin, wooden details throughout the house, and green out every window. Reach out to take a peek.
